The Unscripted, also known as Under Your spell, is a Folk song with operatic elements written and composed by Tiki Black for her sophomore album The Sound of the Broken Wand. The track is her first single and the third track on the album. The song relates the difficulties of breaking out of the safety of the familiar no matter how much it inhibits our growths but also stipulates that we do eventually in our own time, to “resume this interrupted growth”.

“With its unique vocal performance, beautifully written lyrics, and elegant melodic concepts, “The Unscripted” is a lovingly crafted piece of songwriting that matures with every subsequent listen. Tiki Black showcases a tremendous amount of depth and character with this track and I was genuinely taken by its graceful nature, great work!

The Uscripted Lyrics

Verse 1
Under Your Spell
La vie en rose
You Play, I /po:z/
The script starts well

Verse 2
Under Your Thumb
I found a roof
I found the proof
That I belonged

Chorus
It was always going to be hard to let go
And I found myself looking up for a nod
It was always going to be hard to let go
But I had to resume this interrupted growth

Verse 4
Under  Your Thumb
I found a roof
I found the proof
That I belonged

Verse 5
On a tight leash
I felt so safe
I guess the chafe
Means I exist

Chorus
It was always going to be hard to let go
And I found myself craving the burn of your hold
It was always going to be hard to let go
But I had to resume this interrupted growth
