18:00 - 22:00
On the 17th of August 2012, there was a live show. It showcased the songs that have been created during the UK Songwriting Festival (UKSF) week (12-18 Aug 2012). The show was by invitation only and took place at Bladnoch Distillery. The UK Songwriting Festival (2004 to present) is a 5-day creative retreat for songwriters. It includes lectures, small group playback and critique sessions, live band sessions and acoustic live recordings. Experts at hand are professional songwriters and musicians with extensive knowledge in songwriting and the music industry. The Festival is exceptionally held this year at Shennanton House, Dumfries and Galloway, in Scotland.
Some of the songs
The 2012 festival took place in the emptier and more peaceful parts of Scotland. This made it great for a songwriters retreat. Shennanton house, ~32 songwriters, 5 tutors, the band, great catering made for the birth of 10 collaborative songs. These included A ghost of me (with Chris Whiting and Boo Hewerdine), The other side of me and Feel alive (both with Berit MJ) and A taste of what I’m missing (with Michael Brown with some fairy dust from Boo Hewerdine), the later one performed on Friday, see photos)… . Add to that the best audience a songwriter can ever have, the amazing stage and environment of the Bladnoch Distillery, a great band (Joe Bennett on electric guitar, Chris Blanden on bass, Josh on drums, Boo Hewerdine (co-writer) on keyboards, Michael Brown (co-writer) on guitar), great arrangements (Boo Hewerdine and Joe Bennett) to make Tiki’s one week at the UKSF a great experience.
